CJM Safety Director Calms Family After Accident
Congratulations to our latest Safety Sticker recipient, our own Safety Director, Royce Foltz.
On Nov. 28, Royce was on the road and witnessed an accident on MD 30, not far from the CJ Miller Hampstead headquarters. Royce, who teaches CPR and First-Aid, OSHA 10 and OSHA 30, MSHA 20-hour and other safety instructional classes to CJ Miller employees, assessed the situation. He had the driver who caused the accident, who was having difficulty breathing after his airbag deployed, sit on the grass on the shoulder out of the way of traffic. The occupants of a second vehicle were a mother and two young children. The mother appeared alert and uninjured, and both children were secure in their car seats, but frightened.
Royce went to his vehicle and retrieved two plastic yellow CJ Miller hard hats, which significantly calmed the children. The mother was then able to pull her car out of the travel lane and onto the safety of the shoulder where she kept her car running for heat. Royce stayed on the scene until police arrived, guiding morning commuters past the scene.
In appreciation for his stepping in helping with the situation, Royce has been issued a special safety sticker, which is presented to employees who distinguish themselves for operating in a safe manner.
