Gradall Operator
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Gradall Operator to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to operate a diesel-powered Gradall machine equipped with a telescopic swing-boom and scoop attachment used to excavate, load, stockpile, spread, and grade dirt, stone, and other materials. This equipment is mounted on a truck chassis, requiring operation on public roads. This role requires a valid Class B CDL, a current DOT physical, and a clean driving record, as the operator may also perform duties like a dump truck driver when transporting the Gradall unit.

Salary Range: $25.00 – $30.00
Reports to Excavating Superintendent
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Utilize steering wheel, pedals and levers to control speed and direction of machine
- Utilize pedals or levers to control length, height, pitch angler and rotation of bucket
- Install/change attachments using levers and hand tools
- Interpret signals, stakes and markings to respect plan specifications
- Perform daily preventative maintenance such as track cleaning, inspection for damage and fluid check
- Adhere to all prescribed safety practices and procedures
- Ability to grade dirt, stone and other materials within ½” of marked specifications, and grade areas to finished grade
- Operate truck in a safe and orderly manner according to all Federal, State, and Local regulations
- Operate truck according to CJ Miller LLC safety rules and procedures
- Maneuver truck into operating position, following signals from crew as needed
- May be required to perform other labor/operator related tasks (based on experience, abilities, knowledge of incumbent and direction of Foreman) as necessary in assisting crew with job completion

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Five years excavating, utility or other applicable experience operating heavy equipment; two of which operating an excavator, dozer or other fine grading equipment.
- Valid Class B CDL license with airbrake endorsement
- Current DOT physical
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) 3-year record only
- Proven experience operating Gradall or similar heavy equipment
- Ability to read and follow job specifications, grades, and construction plans
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or be on-call when necessary
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by the Operator to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- The ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
- Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently or up to 100 pounds with assistance
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work on‐site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
- The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
