Crown High School Project in Gaithersburg, Maryland
The Crown High School Project is a comprehensive three year site development effort for Montgomery County’s newest high school, located on a 25 acre site in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Beginning in July 2024 and scheduled for completion by January 2027, the project encompasses full start to finish site preparation and infrastructure construction.
CJ Miller’s scope of work includes major activities such as tree clearing, mass grading, installation of sewer and water utilities, and extensive offsite rightofway improvements. The project also incorporates paving operations and coordination with a wide range of specialized subcontractors responsible for aggregate piers, geothermal well installation, retaining wall construction, stadium grandstands, synthetic rubber athletic track systems, site concrete, fencing, landscaping, and various site amenities.
Stormwater management is a critical component of the project, featuring a substantial underground retention facility and a 500 foot outfall constructed with 48-inch RCP storm drain. Throughout the duration of construction, CJ Miller has built and maintained all access roads and implemented an automated wash rack system to ensure clean, safe, and compliant site access for owners, trades, and the construction manager.
This project stands out for its blend of large-scale civil work—such as grading and major retaining structures—and detailed final site features, including decorative fencing and athletic scoreboards. The project remains on schedule, with substantial progress toward delivering a fully developed site for Montgomery County’s newest educational facility.
